Pound for pound, all varieties of wood have approximately the same heat content, about 6400 BTU. Softwoods and hardwoods burn differently because of differences in density. The lighter density of softwoods –- such as cottonwood –- allow them to burn hot and fast.
Cottonwood is widely spread tree in Nebraska, and because it grows faster than oak and supplies of cottonwood are large it is less expensive firewood than oak and is a good choice for heating.
Wayne's Firewood supplies cottonwood in logs or split firewood, it is sold by cords or truckloads.
